about
Hyunch Sung founded Studio Moonya to create landscapes with material memory and cultural idiosyncrasy. Designing and artmaking are deep joys that Hyunch practices with intuition and knowledge. For over 10 years, Hyunch has been designing & building cultural, commercial, public, and residential landscapes. She has taught urban studios about cultural-political landscapes and underrepresented communities at USC, Cal Poly Pomona, and UC Berkeley. In 2020 she co-founded the collective Ssi Ya Gi. Hyunch received her B.A. in Literature from Amherst College, M.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and her M.L.A. from the Rhode Island School of Design. She adores real talk and action against the monolithic lard (aka white hegemony).
