“CultivaLA is a registered non-profit with Mission to transform healthy food access and wellness through people, social enterprise and environmental justice. With 32 active ‘cultiva-dores’ we grow and supply fresh organic herbs (e.g. mint, basil, papalo, cilantro, etc.) and vegetables to individuals and families, as well as to the community through our innovative Free Mercado Al Aire Libre (FREE Farmer’s Market) in the Westlake/MacArthur Park Neighborhood in Greater Los Angeles. Unique partnership with social service providers and local leadership, we have developed a 12-week urban agriculture model with strong emphasis in community workforce development, mentorship, and entrepreneurship for youth and adults.” Moonya is humbled and grateful to design under the leadership of Jose Miguel Ruiz and his team at CultivaLA.
